START A WORK-BASED LEARNING PROGRAM

Collaborate with Region 8 on a work-based learning assessment that identifies your students’ unique needs and barriers to making career connections. This tailored approach ensures you’re connected to the right resources, helping to enhance your students’ learning experiences and better prepare them for future careers.

Our WBL specialist can walk you through the State’s guidance on quality WBL experiences, connect you with employers with opportunities, and offer options for tracking all of your Career Exploration activities from student work experiences and training plans to employer-required documents, timesheets, pay stubs and more, all in one central site.

Join our Northeast Indiana WBL Community

Each month Region 8 covenes a regional WBL meeting focusing on current practices, funding, and opportunities to grow the talent pipeline in Northeast Indiana. This is a great way for employers, educators, and anyone involved with students in WBL to stay on top of guidance and events, and to showcase your programs across the region. During the 2025-26 year Region 8 has host more than two dozen speaker highlighting student- run businesses and entrepreneurship, USDOL child labor policies, Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathways, dual credits, current WBL opportunities, and more. Meetings are held via Zoom the second Wednesday of every month from 2-3pm. Request access to the monthly meetings here.

Region 8 and partners around the state have collaborated to provide up-to-date resources for you to jumpstart your WBL programs.

The Northern Indiana WBL Toolkit can be viewed here.

Ascend Indiana has also created some helpful tools, including a training plan and partnership agreement template, which you can find here.

Every other Tuesday our WBL specialist publishes the College and Career News Update, filled with grants and scholarships, events and trainings, and your news. We encourage you to share your news with hundreds of partners across our region by submitting your 2-3 sentence item to Holly Chaille.
